Press release as published in the Brenham Banner-Press on Sunday, November 7, 2004.
"True Blue Animal Rescue (TBAR) held its First Annual “Dogs Paws For A Cause” dog-walk Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site. The fund-raising event opened at noon with a blessing for the animals by Pastor Ron Trimmer of Frieden’s Church, and continued with contests and demonstrations. More than fifty people turned out to walk their dogs and participate in the various activities. TBAR showed some of its rescued animals including one of several dozen horses, pot-bellied pigs and assorted dogs and puppies. Some people took the opportunity to apply to adopt or to foster animals in need of homes. Animal stories written by Brenham school children were featured along with handouts containing information on the care and protection of animals. Everyone attending was awarded a certificate of appreciation for supporting the organization. Photos were taken and can be viewed on TBAR’s website, www.t-bar.org. All proceeds benefited the Washington County-based non-profit no-kill shelter which was created to educate people about caring for animals, and to provide alternative care for animals when their owners are no longer able to support them."
